TROPEA CLAIMS 3rd STOCKTON TITLE
Tropea's Rink Shines at Boston Bonspiel,
(February 14, 2005)
Third time is a charm for Peter Tropea. He and his team claimed the 2005 Stockton Title for the third time since first travelling to the prestigious event 19 years ago. Tropea’s Rink went undefeated throughout the event, finally knocking off a tough team from Pointe Claire skipped by Don Ross. Below is a pcture of the The winning team consisting of Mark McDonald (third), Peter Tropea (skip), Dan Mano (second), and John Baird (lead). Tropea won the event previously in 1991 and in 1998.
The past two years Tropea has also brought along another Cornwall squad who has had some success. Kevin Baker travelled to Boston with his team to play in the event. And, not to be outdone, took the Primrose event, only losing one match. Below is his team of Jean Charlebois (lead), Kevin Baker (skip), Scott McDonald (third), and Jeff Bethune (second).
The annual bonspiel is held at the Brookline Country Club in Boston, Massachusetts, and is host to nearly 30 teams from all over Canada and the United States. This year marked the 86th anniversary of the Stockton Bonspiel, one of the most prestiguos curling events in North America.
